As long as you're making New Year's resolutions, here are 10 tastes you simply have to try in 2021. We've tried them all personally and can vouch for each and every one of them. Put them on your edible itinerary.
Chargrilled Oysters from Acme Seafood House
We can never decide between a dozen chargrilled and a dozen raw oysters at Acme so we always get six of one and half dozen of the other! They're absolutely delicious! Let them shuck you some!
Frozen Café Au Lait from Café Beignet
Good Eats host Alton Brown says Café Beignet makes the best beignets in town and, while we agree, we want to say a thing or two about their Frozen Café Au Lait. It's just the right sweetness, just the right texture. The perfect companion for a walk along the river on a warm New Orleans day.
Boiled Crabs from Deanie's Seafood
It always feels like Friday night at Deanie's. Come crack a few crabs and experience the good life New Orleans style.
Blackened Redfish LaFourche from Oceana Grill
This is the dish the Oceana employees rave about and they ought to know! This is comfort food, Cajun style! Read our review.
Grilled Fish Kabobs from Byblos
While it's hard to pass up the Gyro Platter, we've just fallen in love with the perfectly prepared Grilled Fish Kabobs with vegetables from Byblos. If you're a hummus lover, this place is for you. Read our review.
Bananas Foster French Toast from Daisy Dukes
This little diner with locations all over the area serves up a mean all-day breakfast. At Daisy Dukes' Metairie location, we were blown away by their Bananas Foster French Toast. There's enough to share but you won't want to. Read our review.
Whatever's On The Half Shell at Grand Isle Restaurant
At the end of a crazy day, there's nothing better than meeting for a dozen raw oysters at Grand Isle, named after the barrier island renowned for its world-class fishing. Their oysters never disappoint. They also offer Redfish on the Half Shell with lump crabmeat, Creole meuniere sauce, and bacon-pecan rice. Heaven.
The fish at Ralph's on the Park
Little hamburgers are cool but little brats or, more formally "Märzen-simmered Bratwurst Sliders"? Fabulous. (Those carmelized onions though!) There's nothing like a bite to eat and a small plate at Gordon Biersch. And if you still have room left, split some of their Warm Apple Bread Pudding with pecans, vanilla ice cream, and whiskey sauce. TDF.
Boiled Crawfish from the Original French Market Restaurant & Bar
Attending a crawfish boil is one of the greatest joys of visiting or living in Louisiana. At the Original French Market Restaurant & Bar, you can watch the boil through the window and then come inside and get your fill of hot, spicy, delicious mudbugs. During crawfish season, this is one of the best places to pinch some tails and suck some heads. Read our review.
