History
Deanie's Seafood Restaurant and Seafood Market was established in 1961. The original owners were John and Alma (Deanie) Livacari. Initially, the business was located on Old Hammond Highway before moving to Orpheum Street and finally to Lake Avenue, where Deanie's Seafood Restaurant & Seafood Market resides today.
Deanie’s was the first seafood market to open its doors in the quaint fishing village of Bucktown and one of the first to sell boiled seafood such as shrimp, crawfish and blue crab.
In 1982, Frank and Barbara Chifici, former founders and owners of Gromboli's and Chifici's restaurants, took over Deanie's Seafood Restaurants neighborhood restaurant in Bucktown. Their children continue to expand the Deanie's legacy, building a locally owned, family-operated business that has evolved into one of the top seafood restaurants in New Orleans over the last 30+ years. In 2001, Deanie's Seafood's second location was opened in the former D. H. Holmes Department Store Annex at the corner of Iberville and Dauphine Streets in the heart of the French Quarter. And in 2018, a third location was opened on Magazine Street.
